TELEMETRIC
AND SURVALENT TEAM UP TO OFFER A COMPLETE DISTRIBUTION AUTOMATION
PACKAGE
Boise, ID – February 6,
2003 – Telemetric Corporation, the industry leader
in providing utilities with affordable wireless solutions for
communicating with down-line equipment, and Survalent Technology,
a supplier of leading edge SCADA systems, are excited to announce
their partnership to provide complete distribution automation
and SCADA solutions to utilities across North America. Telemetric’s
complete line of products has been rigorously tested and approved
for operation with Survalent SCADA systems and the products are
ready for large-scale deployments.
Telemetric’s software, SCADA-Xchange,
provides a secure link between remote equipment and DNP-enabled
SCADA systems, allowing equipment that has previously not had
any sort of communication to now report and respond to SCADA.
With this solution, information can be viewed on any SCADA system,
such as Survalent’s WorldView. Protocol converters are available
for non-DNP compliant systems.
Benjamin Perez, Vice President of Sales
and Marketing with Survalent reports, “We are thrilled to
offer our users the ability to expand the reach of SCADA. The
Telemetric solution is changing the way utilities view the capabilities
of their SCADA systems by extending it to virtually any point
on their distribution network.”
Telemetric offers a line of wireless
products for remote monitoring and control using the cellular
control channel. The control channel provides true, two-way communication
throughout North America at a very low monthly operating cost.
Data from the devices is sent to Telemetric’s Network Operations
Center (NOC). The NOC is a secure gateway where all data is received,
authenticated, processed and stored. From here, utilities can
access information from their SCADA system using SCADA-Xchange.
In many cases, large-scale deployments
of geographically dispersed equipment have been managed either
by annual visual inspection or through very expensive communication
methods such as phone lines or expansion of a private radio network.
SCADA-Xchange makes it simple and inexpensive to extend SCADA
to points such as these that were previously difficult to cost
justify.
About Telemetric
Telemetric is the industry leader in low-cost wireless solutions,
providing utilities with an affordable option for communicating
with down-line equipment and machinery. Our solutions have helped
over 100 utilities control costs and improve customer service
by allowing them to cost-effectively monitor, control and automate
equipment located beyond their substations. By utilizing the “control
channel” of the cellular network, Telemetric allows customers
to send small packets of data over the existing public cellular
network with far better coverage and at a much lower cost than
other methods of communication. Telemetric is privately held with
headquarters in Boise, Idaho. For more information, please visit
