June 24, 2002 – Boise, ID – Telemetric Corporation, a leading provider of wireless remote monitoring and control solutions, and Lindsey Manufacturing, a producer of specialized hardware, tools and equipment for the electric utility industry, announced a next generation solution for fault detection, voltage and current sensing complete with communications. The solution integrates the Lindsey Smart Pin Current and Voltage Sensor with the Telemetric MicroRTU.

The Lindsey Smart Pin provides a 3-phase current signal, voltage presence/absence, and faulted circuit indication. The Telemetric MicroRTU communicates the values of the Smart Pin over the cellular network with report-by-exception or can be queried on demand. Access is provided right within the utility's SCADA system or from a secure web application. Dick Serocki, Lindsey Manufacturing Product Manager, says “the Smart Pin combines a traditional fault locator with meaningful information that can be used to notify the utility of a fault and its location, it also provides the current readings and presence or absence of voltage. The typical fault locator has an indicator that turns red during a fault condition, you find out about the fault only when your customers call to report the outage. The integration of the Smart Pin and Telemetric MicroRTU provides real time information to the utility, which improves customer service and minimizes revenue loss."
