TELEMETRIC DNP-REMOTE TELEMETRY MODULE RELEASED FOR GENERAL AVAILABLILITY
DNP-RTM Extends Communication Beyond the Substation

Boise, Idaho – June 3, 2002 – Telemetric Corporation, a leading provider of wireless remote monitoring and control solutions, announced today that the DNP-Remote Telemetry Module (DNP-RTM) is commercially available for integration with IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices) such as recloser, capacitor bank and voltage regulator controllers from all the major manufacturers. Availability comes after the device underwent successful field testing with a major investor owned utility.

The DNP-RTM was designed specifically to cost effectively extend two-way communications beyond the substation for intelligent devices such as an EnergyLine capacitor control. Using the existing public cellular network, the DNP-RTM enables communications to any DNP device in the field and provides access right within the utility’s SCADA system or from a secure web application. Dick Martin, Telemetric Product Manager explains, “This product is much more than just a modem or 900Mhz radio that lacks DNP capability and requires modem banks or a radio infrastructure. No other product has the flexibility to communicate by DNP to such a wide variety of equipment with this extensive coverage. The DNP-RTM allows utilities to cost justify and widely deploy communications leading to improved customer service and protection against revenue loss.”

Integration kits are available for many IEDs to allow simple installation. For more information on the devices the DNP-RTM supports visit http://www.telemetric.net/ied/.
