PRESENTS COMPARISION OF WIRELESS TECHNOLOGIES WITH PANEL AT DISTRIBUTECH

Miami Beach, FL– March
1, 2002 – Telemetric Corporation, a leading provider
of wireless remote monitoring and control solutions, presented
today in a panel discussion about how utilities are using wireless
technologies to communicate with equipment beyond the substation.
Telemetric presented a comparison of
wireless communication methods used in the utility industry including:
control channel; satellite; CDPD; and two-way paging. Carl Goeckeler,
P.E. of Kansas City Power and Light discussed KCP&L’s
use of wireless communications in its distribution system for
capacitor banks and meter readying. Jim Poole of ElectriCities
of North Carolina explained how ElectriCities uses wireless technologies
to assist with load control. Finally, Charles Newton, President
of Newton-Evans Research, presented current and future wireless
communication methods that utilities may use within their systems
to help cut costs, reduce outage time and increase customer satisfaction.
